Preliminary Application
We appreciate your interest in unlocking hope for children who need family.
Just so you know, AGCI and the countries we work with require the following:
Prospective adoptive parents must reside in the United States and at least one applicant must be a US citizen.
Married adoptive parents are 23 or older and have no more than 5 children living in the home.
Single adoptive parents are 25 or older and have no more than 2 children in the home.
US Immigration requires that families have an annual income of at least $15,000 per family member, including the adopted child. This guideline exists to ensure that adoptive parents have the financial resources to both pay for an adoption, as well as support the child once home (without causing significant financial strain).
Applicants be married for a minimum length of one year at the time of application (or two years if there is a history of divorce for either parent). If this is you, we would be happy to review your information again after you have been married for at least one year!
Adoptive parents apply prior to their 60th birthday. If this is you, we encourage you to visit the adoption area of the Department of State website. Here, you can find helpful information about many other country-specific eligibility requirements to see if there are any other country programs that might be a good fit for you.
Prospective adoptive parents may not have any history of felonies.
Thank you so much for your interest. Good luck in your journey!
